Overview
SchoolConnect serves schools that run their day across classrooms, staff rooms, and the front office. Students follow schedules and lessons, teachers post material and track behavior, and supervisors oversee the school and speak to families. Most of this ran on paper, phone calls, and scattered messages. The school needed one app that fit all three roles.
The Challenge
Timetables, exam schedules, and results were shared on paper and through informal messages, so students and parents often missed updates. Teachers had no simple way to publish lessons, record absence, or log behavior notes. Supervisors could not reach students and families in one place, and there was no shared channel for school news or announcements. They needed a single app that gave each role its own view of the same school data.
The Solution
We built a role-based Flutter app for students, teachers, and supervisors. It covers class and exam schedules, exam results, curricula, and lesson content including online and pre-recorded lessons. Teachers upload lessons, manage their rooms, record absence, and log student behavior. Live sessions, one-to-one chat, notifications, school news, a gallery, and a manager's message keep the school connected. The app runs in Arabic, English, and Kurdish, with Arabic as the default.
The Result
Students and families see schedules, lessons, and results in one place instead of chasing paper updates. Teachers publish material and record absence and behavior directly from the app. Supervisors reach the whole school through news, notifications, and chat.
Our approach
- Discover: Mapped the daily work of students, teachers, and supervisors, and defined what each role needed to see and do.
- Design: Shaped separate role-based flows over shared school data, with schedules, lessons, results, and communication in clear sections.
- Build: Developed the app in Flutter with BLoC and Provider, real-time chat and live sessions over Pusher, and push notifications through Firebase.
- Refine: Tuned lesson uploads, notifications, and trilingual support across Arabic, English, and Kurdish, and fixed issues found in daily use.
