Overview
This app supports students working to memorize and retain the Quran. Learners follow a daily memorization routine, review what they have covered, and test themselves against their plan. The app needed to hold the full mushaf, a personal memorization schedule, and a review workflow in one place, in both Arabic and English.
The Challenge
Students were tracking their memorization across notebooks, separate audio apps, and manual review, with no single view of what was memorized, what needed revision, or where their weak spots were. Progress was hard to measure, self-testing was informal, and there was no shared space to stay accountable with other memorizers. They needed one app that combined reading, a structured daily plan, self-assessment, and community support.
The Solution
We built a Flutter app around a page-accurate mushaf with bookmarks and word-level markers. Students create memorization plans by juzz or quarter juzz, receive a daily Werd task, and revise past material on schedule. A self-test mode hides verses so learners can check recall, with quick, final, and weakness-focused exams that record results and flag weak points for targeted review. Recitation audio, a points and badge system, groups, and a memorizers forum keep learners engaged, backed by real-time notifications through Pusher and Firebase.
The Result
Students see their memorized parts, daily tasks, and weak points in one place instead of tracking them by hand. Self-testing and revision follow a clear routine tied to each plan. Group and forum features give learners a shared space to stay consistent.
Our approach
- Discover: Mapped the memorization journey from first juzz to full recall, including how students plan, revise, and test themselves.
- Design: Laid out a page-accurate mushaf, a daily task flow, and a self-test mode that reads clearly in both Arabic and English.
- Build: Implemented plans, exams, weakness tracking, recitation audio, points, groups, and the forum on a layered Flutter architecture with local storage.
- Refine: Tuned the review scheduling, exam flows, and notifications, and added crash and performance monitoring to keep the experience stable.
